Spoonbill - 10 RSPB Arne Shipstal, 1 RSPB Lodmoor

Cattle Egret - 6 RSPB Lodmoor in Northwest corner

Osprey - 1 over Broadwey flew through early afternoon

Short-eared Owl - 1 Arne Moors viewed from Slepe Heath

Sand Martin - 6 Stanpit Marsh, 2 RSPB Lodmoor, 2 Puddletown Water Meadows

Swallow - 2 Swineham Gravel Pit

Willow Warbler - 1 Portland Castle

Black Redstart - 1 portland Castle, 1 Blacknor Portland

Wheatear - 3 Portland Bill

Cirl Bunting - 2 West Bexington

RARE BREEDING BIRDS

Dorset Bird Club and the Rare Breeding Birds Panel advocate special caution when reporting rare breeding birds as they are vulnerable to persecution and disturbance.

Please consider the birds welfare and do not share details of any rare breeding species on X/Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp groups, personal websites, blogs, or local birdwatching message boards.

We urge all finders of rare birds to consider whether they may be breeding before sharing the news.

Sightings should always be submitted, in confidence, to the county recorder to contribute to long-term national monitoring.
