Sightings - Sunday 4th March 2018

A sad consequence of the cold weather during the last few days has been the number of dead birds found today including twelve Lapwing behind beach between Abbotsbury and West Bexington; an adult Spoonbill at Stanpit; Shelduck, gulls and  Lapwing at Lodmoor RSPB.

Pale-bellied Brent Goose - at least 1 at Butterstreet Cove
Spoonbill - 3 Lodmoor RSPB, 1 Radipole RSPB, 1 Stanpit, 1 Lytchett Fields RSPB, 1 Arne RSPB
Bittern - 1 Poole Harbour (N of Piddle), 1 Radipole RSPB, 1 Stanpit, 1 Swineham this evening
Red-necked Grebe - 1 Portland Harbour
Hen Harrier - 3+ Poole Harbour, 1 Middlebere
Merlin - 1f Blacknor (Portland), 1 Canford Bottom
Golden Plover - c500 Maiden Castle, 144 West Bexington, 18 Eype, c10 Butterstreet  Cove, 5 Christchurch Harbour, 3 Baiter
Sanderling - 5 Lyme Regis Cobb
Purple Sandpiper - 8 Lyme Regis Cobb
Spotted Redshank - 1 Lytchett Fields, 1 Holes Bay
Woodcock - 3 Eype
Little Gull - 2 1st/w from Lyme Regis Cobb, 1 Chesil Cove, 1 1st/w Stanpit
ROSS'S GULL - 1 seen over Ferrybridge, in Chesil Cove, at Radipole RSPB,  at Lodmoor RSPB     and in Weymouth Bay
Iceland Gull - 1  Weymouth Bay briefly this evening
Glaucous Gull - 1 along beach at Lodmoor
Short-eared Owl - 3 Portland Bill
Great Grey Shrike - 1 Morden Bog
Woodlark - 3 Stanpit GC
Black Redstart - 1 Church Ope Cove (Portland), 1 Boscombe
Water Pipit - 1 Eype, 1 over Lodmoor RSPB
Hawfinch - 20 Trent churchyard, 4 Child Okeford, 2 St Mary's churchyard Wareham
