Woodchat Shrike - 1 near Martinstown, please follow these instructions: "At Great Hill 2km S of Martinstown, in the narrow fenced valley on the S side of Great Hill on 1:25k OS map), SY641870 but ranging along the SW-NE fence line. Looks like a first-summer female.
Not visible from a public right of way, but footpaths nearby along north side of Great Hill leading to cut silage field (with prominent tumuli) S of the valley, should be OK to stray east off path (also a foot path on S side of the cut field if approaching from minor road at Cotton Hill)) to use slope in north part of this field to view the bird. Its favouring the fence on the S side of the valley, showing best if fence line not approached too closely.
If anyone does come for it please don't attempt to view the valley from the Great Hill side as this will involve trampling uncut vegetation, and please don't try to avoid the walk in by using the private track from Martinstown.
