Good numbers of common migrants were present at coastal sites today and such numbers may indicate a good breeding season for many species. Sedge Warblers seemed to be present in particularly high numbers, but other migrants included Redstarts, Tree Pipits, Wheatears, and Grasshopper Warblers. It was the first day of the autumn with more than 100 birds ringed on Portland. Other birds included:
Balearic Shearwater - 1, Portland
Osprey - 1, Middlebere
Wood Sandpiper - 2, Lodmoor
Stone Curlew - 1, Portland Bill
Swift - 22, Christchurch Harbour; 6 Durlston
