Sightings - Thursday June 21st 2012

No sightings to report from today, but an interesting escape in a Purbeck garden. It's a weaver, and looks like red bishop sp.

UPDATE: David Leadbetter has written to say: "I think from the photographs that the bishop species in the Purbeck garden is likely to be Black-winged Red Bishop, which is widespread in parts of Africa. It's quite a stunning bird!"

Sightings - Wednesday June 20th 2012

Very quiet, with just one Baleric Shearwater reported past Portland and one Storm Petrel trapped overnight. Four Red Kites a mile east of Bridport and a Marsh Harrier at Morden Bog.

An unseasonal Goldeneye was reported from Abbotsbury Swannery.

Very quiet today - Red Kite reported over Langton Matravers at 6.10pm and a Turtle Dove at Abbotsbury Swannery.

Confirmation that three Peregrines have fledged in Bournemouth.
